The Assembly Rooms has 2 auditoria - The Great Hall and The Darwin Suite and can be adapted to accommodate a wide range of seated events. Assembly Rooms are closed at the moment due to fire.

Derby Theatre - The Derby Theatre has a fixed, tiered seating capacity of 535 in the main house. A purpose-built modern theatre, the venue is light and airy with an on-site box office, toilets, coffee shop and bar

The Guildhall Theatre is a small and intimate theatre situated opposite the Assembly Rooms with raked seating for 182 patrons downstairs and a small balcony area seating a further 60.

September sees the spectacular Derby Festé, a three day festival of the arts that transforms the city into a performance space and canvas, an explosion of culture and arts activity. Local and international artists bring a variety of performances, installations and visual arts to the city.

Derby also hosts one of the country's top jazz scenes and celebrates this with a week long festival. The status of the festival is well recognised nationally, no less by national magazine Jazzwise which has included the film from the festival in the magazine.

Buxton Opera House is one of Britain’s leading receiving theatres, presenting around 450 performances each year including dance, comedy, children’s shows, drama, musical concerts, pantomime and opera as well as a lively Fringe Theatre and Community and Education Programme. The theatre is also home to the prestigious Buxton Festival and The International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival and The Four-Four-Time Festival of Live Music. Lovingly restored to its former glory in 2001, Buxton Opera House is an exquisitely beautiful Edwardian theatre and one of the country’s finest examples of Frank Matcham theatre design. Derby Quad - new arts centre opened on September 2008 and provides an art gallery, two cinemas, artists’ studios, and a bar. The centre also has available spaces for local people to come and create arts. see www.derbyquad.co.uk

The Big Screen - The screen shows live events in the Market Place, interactive games, short films by local film makers, artistic pieces and videos from local bands, as well as the best of what the BBC has to offer.

Dance

Deda - The only dedicated dance house in the East Midlands, Derby Dance houses a 134 seat studio theatre, 2 dance studios, meeting room facilities and the CUBE café bar.
By providing a ladder of creative opportunities for audiences, participants and artists we aim to foster an understanding and respect of dance and related art forms.

Derby is reaching international audiences for its real ale scene. The Summer Beer Festival, one of the largest in the country, takes place every July attracting approximately 12,000 visitors each year who are offered 100 different cask beers, ciders and continental beers and a whole host of entertainment.
